Our Commitment to Diversity
Rowan-Virtua SOM has had a longstanding commitment to ensure that students from diverse backgrounds become osteopathic physicians who are prepared to care for an increasingly diverse patient population.
Throughout the years the Rowan-Virtua SOM admissions office has partnered with undergraduate and graduate school programs to expose students to osteopathic medicine and to increase the diversity in the physician workforce. We have also implemented a number of recruitment strategies designed to increase the diversity of the applicant pool and ultimately to admit a diverse student body. These initiatives which have been supported by administration at Rowan-Virtua SOM have had an enormous impact on the school’s ability to attract and retain students from diverse backgrounds.
The Admissions Department collaborates with multiple student organizations on campus, in an effort to recruit students from diverse backgrounds to Rowan-Virtua SOM. Our department is excited to work with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as we collaborate to reinforce our efforts to attract future osteopathic physicians from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds.
The admissions office has garnered a reputation for counseling prospective students “one at a time” in order to guide them through the admissions process and prepare them for consideration by the school’s admissions committee.
