Osteopathic Medicine at Rowan University

Mind, body and spirit are the foundation of osteopathic medicine - an approach to medical care that considers the whole patient, the environment, and the community when determining a course of medical treatment. As part of a more holistic approach to medical care, D.O.s learn and practice a form of osteopathic manipulative medicine, in which hands-on care is integral in the body's healing process.

RowanSOM, a nationally-ranked osteopathic medical school located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, offers a student-centered education in a family-like atmosphere. Explore your degree options and plan to D.O. more with your medical education!

Linda Boyd, D.O.

Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Linda BoydAs Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and a primary care physician for more than 20 years, it is my honor to guide future generations of osteopathic physicians. At RowanSOM, the competitive nature of medical school is complemented with a supportive, family-like atmosphere that encourages success through academic knowledge, clinical skills and community service. It is my personal goal to create a kinder and gentler medical school experience.

I am a teacher and physician by nature, working hand-in-hand with students and faculty to highlight empathetic patient care through osteopathic principles. As an administrator, I oversee the divisions of Curriculum, Clinical Education, Problem-Based Learning, Student Affairs, Alumni Engagement, Registrar, Admissions, Assessment, and the Center for Teaching and Learning. My position is multifaceted - I am a sounding board and consultant for our students as they make their journey through medical school, while also ensuring educational resources are available to successfully prepare our physicians and promote innovation in treatment and integrated care.

In addition to my role at RowanSOM, I am also a proud alum of the school. All of my clinical and administrative experiences – including Associate Dean at two other medical schools, Course Director, Clerkship Director, Teacher, Advisor and Residency Faculty – have provided a unique perspective on health care and a desire to deliver a hands-on approach to learning. Choose RowanSOM and see how we DO medicine.
