Call Schedule
PGY I: weekly buddy call while on surgical rotations with supervision of senior resident
PGY II - IV:
- Jeff Wash/Lourdes: 24 hour in house call q3-q4 days depending on seniority/staffing
- Jeff Stratford/Jeff Cherry Hill: Weekday 12 hour night float 6pm - 6am Sunday - Friday, Weekend 24 hour home call
- Cooper: 24 hour trauma/critical care call
PGY V: back-up home call one week at a time designed to provide support to junior residents

- 2 weeks medicine night float
- 2 months surgical ICU
- 9.5 months surgical service
PGY II
- 12 months surgical service
PGY III
- 2 months trauma/critical care
- 10 months surgical service
PGY IV
- 2 months pediatric surgery

PGY V
- 2 months colorectal surgery

Didactics
Residents participate in several weekly and monthly activities to further their surgical education. Didactics are coordinated by faculty and chief residents to cover all topics encompassed by the ABS In-Training Exam (ABSITE) administered yearly to residents. Educational sessions are guided by the Surgical Council on Resident Education (SCORE) curriculum and supported by various surgical textbooks. Presentations are created and given by a mix of residents, alumni, faculty, and visiting lecturers. Didactic sessions include:
- Weekly Wednesday education lectures
- Weekly Friday radiology conference
- Weekly Wednesday morbidity and mortality conference
- Monthly journal club
- Quarterly grand rounds
Research
Each resident is required to present one poster per year at the Annual RowanSOM Research Day.
