General Surgery Residency Program

Throughout the five-year residency program at RowanSOM, residents have the opportunity to participate in a broad range of surgical experiences. We integrate the principles of osteopathy in our approach to surgery and ensure our residents are educated in the allied fields of surgery, including medicine, oncology, pathology and anesthesia, through in-depth involvement in a wide variety of cases and exposure to a diverse patient population.

Why RowanSOM?

Our full-time and volunteer faculty prioritize teaching and are deeply committed to the education of surgical trainees. Most have advanced or fellowship training, exposing residents to the most modern treatments. Residents in the program are given the opportunity to serve as first assistant and, eventually, as a supervised operating surgeon. In addition to surgical training, the faculty acts as advisors to the residents as they complete their research requirements.
