Fellowship Academic Affiliates
The following academic affiliates offer fellowship programs in both suburban and urban environments throughout Southern New Jersey and provide residents with real-world, hands-on experiences in patient care.
Family Medicine Fellowships
Virtua Health offers two post-residency opportunities for Family Medicine graduates – a Geriatrics fellowship and a +1 residency program in Osteopathic NeuroMusculoskeletal Medicine. These programs are multi-disciplinary and showcase osteopathic principles in their approach to education, research and clinical experiences.
Geriatrics
The Geriatric Medicine fellowship is partnered with Rowan-Virtua SOM's nationally-recognized New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging (NJISA). The program emphasizes integrated learning and a multidisciplinary team approach to care in a broad-based learning environment. Learn more on the NJISA website.
ONMM
Our Osteopathic NeuroMusculoskeletal Medicine (+1) program is designed for osteopathic physicians who would like to enhance their expertise in musculoskeletal disease and health. This additional year of training assists residents in perfecting their osteopathic manipulative skills with the goal to better serve their patients, as well as offer a consultative role in ambulatory and hospital settings.
ONMM residents engage in extensive clinic time, applying OMM to a variety of patients with both acute and chronic disease. Learn more about the ONMM+1 program.
Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship
The geriatric psychiatry fellowship program values hands-on interprofessional education, mentorship, research, clinical care, and the patient-centered experience.
The fellowship finds its home in Rowan-Virtua SOM’s nationally-recognized NJISA. It is a one-year program that is completed after graduating from a general psychiatry residency. The program emphasizes integrated learning and an interdisciplinary team-based approach to patient and caregiver care across various training settings.

Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program
The Jefferson Health NJ Cardiovascular Disease program at Virtua Health is an ACGME-accredited graduate training program. This program provides broad exposure to the prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic cardiovascular disease.
The program provides comprehensive experience in both invasive and noninvasive cardiology with a strong focus on promoting health equity, diversity, and community service. Learn more about the Cardiovascular Disease program.
