Welcome to Rowan-Virtua SOM Sewell!

On the Sewell Campus, our Rowan-Virtua SOM DO students exclusively participate in the immersive Problem-based Learning (PBL) Track of the Tensegrity Curriculum, collaborating with colleagues and dedicated expert faculty to learn a holistic approach to healthcare. The PBL track is a student-centered approach to our curriculum where clinical care presentations are the stimulus for acquiring the basic science knowledge needed to understand underlying mechanisms, as well as developing clinical reasoning skills. The PBL tracks on both the Stratford and Sewell campuses are fully integrated, coordinated and synchronized to facilitate cross-campus collaboration student success.

Features of the Sewell Campus:

The Sewell Campus is located on the second floor of the Rowan Medicine Building and features a state-of-the-art medical education and research space, including an OMM Lab, Auditorium, Anatomage Table, Library, and 18 PBL Classrooms.

The first floor of the Rowan Medicine Building includes clinical practices that provide comprehensive medical services in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Behavioral and Mental Health, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Management, Addiction and Recovery Services, Specialty Care, and most notably, the Rowan Integrated Special Needs Center (RISN) that provides care and treatment for persons with physical and cognitive disabilities.

The unique combination of a medical school located in the same building as a clinical center creates a dynamic learning environment that provides students an opportunity to integrate PBL medical education with hands-on clinical experience in our Rowan Medicine clinical practices. Most of these practices have residency program directors and serve as outpatient continuity training sites for several residency programs in our area.
