Rowan-Virtua SOM boasts a vibrant and active student body. There is always something happening, from Grand Rounds, to pumpkin-carving contests, to community service projects. Our student organizations are active within SOM, as well as the surrounding Southern New Jersey communities.
The Student Affairs office helps manage the logistical and financial aspects of the organizations, allowing our busy medical students the opportunity to engage in worthwhile activities without additional stress. We host a variety of SOM student clubs and we are affiliated with many professional associations that offer student memberships. SGA - Student Government Association
The elected Student Government Association maintains communications between the student body, faculty, administration, State Osteopathic Society (NJAOPS), American Osteopathic Association (AOA), other relevant professional associations and the community.
I.D.E.A. Council - SOM's Council on Diversity
SOM's Council on Diversity is both a resource for and an advocate of the values of inclusion and cultural understanding at Rowan-Virtua SOM, helping to create culturally-competent physicians of the future.
Allies in Medicine
This organization seeks to raise awareness for the LGBTQIA+ community and provides a safe place for all voices to be heard.
AAPI - American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin
The AAPI-MSR is a local chapter of the parent organization AAPI-MSR and was established to represent medical students and physicians of Indian origin.
AADMD - American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry
The AADMD is a local chapter and was established to improve student education on the care and compassion of patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs), and collaborate with the local disability community.
ACOEP - American College of Emergency Physicians
This club is a student branch of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians and is dedicated to exposing fellow students to various aspects of emergency medicine.
ACOFP - American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians
ACOFP is a national organization which is represented by student chapters within each osteopathic medical school.
ACONP - American College of Osteopathic Neurologists & Psychiatrists
Medical students who are interested in both the psychology of human behavior and the biology of the remarkable advances in brain science and research participate in activities supported by this club.
ACOS-MSS - American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, Medical Student Section
This student club seeks to stress the understanding of osteopathic principles in relationship to disease in the practice of surgery. We aim to promote education in the field of surgery and to provide a forum for discussion that encourages and educates students in surgical techniques and procedures.
AGS - American Geriatrics Society
This organization encourages interest in the field of geriatric medicine and emphasizes a multidisciplinary interaction between faculty, students, and the community.
AIRIG - Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology Interest Group
This organization educates students about the fields of allergy, immunology, and rheumatology. AIRIG also helps connect students to physicians in these fields, as well as national organizations that represent them.
AMA - American Medical Association
This organization serves as a link between medical students and established physicians to further explore the medical profession through networking opportunities, professional development, medical advocacy and community service.
AMSA - American Medical Student Association
AMSA is a student-governed, national organization committed to representing the concerns of physicians-in-training.
AMWA/NOWPA - American Medical Women's Association/National Osteopathic Women's Physician Association
The NOWPA promotes the strength and growth of women physicians and students.
AMMSA - American Muslim Medical Student Association
AMMSA is a student-governed, national organization committeed to representing the concerns of physicians-in-training.
AOA - American Osteopathic Association
The AOA is the national parent organization for osteopathic physicians. Student membership may be granted by the governing board of osteopathic physicians upon endorsement of his/her application by the School’s Dean.
APSA - American Physician Scientist Association
The APSA seeks to help medical students acquire a better understanding of medical research and related principles by acquainting members with people and associations involved with medical science, clinical research at local, national and international levels.
Anesthesiology Club
The Anesthesiology Club aims to educate the Rowan-Virtua SOM student body on anesthesiology, its practices and the process of becoming an anesthesiologist.
APAMSA - Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association
This student group aims to recruit Asian Pacific American medical students into higher education, educate the community about health, and other related issues.
BNGAP - Building the Next Generation of Physicians
This national organization educates medical students, residents and physicians on academic medicine opportunities, as well as provides networking events for all members.
Black Collective
The mission of The Black Collective is to improve and advance the experience of Black medical students at Rowan-Virtua SOM. They strive to eliminate the barriers that arise in medical education through fostering an environment of academic excellence, empowerment and advocacy through mentorship and support.
Cardiology Club
This club educates fellow students about the field of cardiology, including current issues and advances in the field.
CMDA - Christian Medical and Dental Association
CMDA provides resources, networking opportunities, education and a public voice for Christian healthcare professionals and students.
DIG - Dermatology Interest Group
This club explores dermatology as a specialty area.
ENT (Otolaryngology) - Ears, Nose, and Throat Club
This club explores Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) medicine as a specialty area. The mission is to provide exposure to this field through engaging panels and workshops.
FIMRC - Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children
The mission of FIMRC is to provide access to healthcare for low-resource and medically underserved families around the world. The main goal is to coordinate an annual summer trip to one of the FIMRC international project sites and award active members with both school and club raised fundings.

This club focuses on the specialty area of hematology oncology, and is dedicated to introducing students to the fields of bloodborne and malignant illnesses in medicine.
IFMSA - International Federation of Medical Students Association
This international, nongovernmental organization includes medical students in more than 85 countries around the world interested in global health. The group promotes international health awareness through education, exchange and activism while fostering a spirit of international cooperation among medical students worldwide.
IASPA - Italian American Student Physician Association
IASPA encourages and supports Italian American students who pursue careers in medicine and health care services, while also addressing the health care needs of members of the Italian American community in the United States.
Infectious Disease Club
This organization educates students about the principles of infectious diseases and raises awareness of current issues, innovation and advancements.
InvestMed
This organization empowers medical students with ideas, insights, and experiences to be come the leaders of tomorrow in medicine. They also nurture the entrepreneurial spirit and bring to light synergies between the business and medical disciplines to better prepare future doctors.
JOMA - Jewish Osteopathic Medical Association
JOMA endeavors to unite all members of the Rowan-Virtua SOM community through education on Jewish practice as it relates to healthcare and to educate the local Jewish communities about the osteopathic medical profession.
LMSA - Latino Medical Student Association
This student group aims to recruit Latinos into higher education, educate the community about Latino health issues, advocate for increased representation and awareness about social, political and economic issues related to Latino health.
MSFC - Medical Students for Choice
This organization works to destigmatize abortion provision and provide opportunities for medical students to participate in workshops and discussions on the current health care climate, learn how to advocate for their patients, and connect with medical professionals.
MSDCI - Medical Students with Disabilities & Chronic Illness
This student club aims to elevate medical students during their education in undergraduate, graduate, and beyond. Our club advocates for students with disabilities and supported by the greater student body. We also serve in the South Jersey community to promote disability awareness and tolerance.
Music Medicine
This student organization incorporates music into a healing process by practicing with medical students and inviting the community to listen and to learn.
Neurology (R-Sign) SOM Student Interest Group - R-Sign
This student organization provides students with opportunities to discover their passion, learn about the new discoveries in Neurology and Neurological sciences, and connect with other experts in the field across the country.
Neurosurgery Club
This student organization provides a forum for students to organized educational and research activities within neurosurgery through workshops, guest speakers, and case studies to provide enrichment and engender passion and a deeper appreciation of the field of neurosurgery.
NJAOPS - New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons
The NJAOPS is an official Divisional Society of the American Osteopathic Association. Student membership is available upon application to the Association with endorsement by the Dean of an approved college of osteopathic medicine.

This organization is open to all students interested in eye and vision care and educates students on current issues, innovations and advancements.

The pathology club was formed for the purpose of teaching and educating the student body about all important fields of pathology.

This organization is open to all students interested.
PM&R Club - Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Club
The PM&R Club attempts to educate fellow students about physical medicine and rehabilitation.
PHR - Physicians for Human Rights
Rowan-Virtua SOM's chapter of Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) is a US-based nonprofit that is dedicated to using an interdisciplinary approach through medicine, science, and law to identify and address human rights violations.
PBM - Plant-based Medicine
This student club is open to all students and strives to engage all medical students using healthy plant-based sources to improve health and knowledge using plant nutrition as medicine.
ProjectREACH
This club educates students on many health issues, but trains them to initiate, organize, troubleshoot, and execute projects. The modules empower students to take control of their personal health, as well as the health of their community. REACH focuses on the health education and community activism sectors for Camden youth.
PHPMC - Public Health and Preventative Medicine Club
This club is open to all medical students, and strives to learn about community health issues, prevention, and treating community health concerns.
PSM - Pulmonary Sleep Medicine
This student club is open to all students interested in learning more about sleep muidicine, such as sleep apnea, treatment and prevention.
RADS - The Radiology Society
The Radiology Society is open to all students of the Rowan-Virtua SOM community and its affiliates. They promote the various modalities offered by the field of radiology, build professional skills and raise awareness concerning innovations and advancements in radiology.

ROMA - Rowan Osteopathic Medicine & Arts
This club fosters, supports and rejuvenates the spirits of patients, practitioners, and medical students alike. Through the arts, we provide outlets for all to express their creativity, participate in service, and further a strong sense of community.
Rowan-Virtua Community Health Center
This is a student run free medical clinic that provide free, quality primary care services to underrepresented communities near Rowan-Virtua SOM. Students that volunteer at the clinic will gain hands on experience treating patience.
Rowan-Virtua OMM Clinic
A student organization teaching student how to effectively apply osteopathic manipulation for patients.
SIM Club - Simulation Club
This club provides students the opportunity to gain medical experience through simulation software.
SAAO - Student American Academy of Osteopathy
The SAAO promotes the principles and practices of osteopathy to the students of the Rowan-Virtua SOM campus.

This club educates fellow students about the specialty of orthopedics, current issues and advances in orthopedics and educational programs for the Rowan-Virtua SOM community.
SAMOPS - Student Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons
The Rowan-Virtua SOM Chapter of the AMOPS recognizes the unique position osteopathic physicians occupy within the United States Armed Forces.
SFIM - Students for Integrative Medicine
This organization strives to educate medical students on integrating conventional medical practice with natural healing methods such as acupuncture, nutrition, herbalism, and homeopathy.
SNaHP - Students for a National Health Program
This club is focued on improving healthcare for both patients and physicians in the United States by changing the way healthcare is funded. The mission focuses on informing students on, and advocating for, a national health program.
SNMA - Student National Medical Association
SNMA is the nation’s oldest and largest student organization focused on the needs and concerns of medical students of color. It continues to advocate for improved, culturally sensitive healthcare services and education for neglected or underserved populations.
SOASM - Student Osteopathic Association of Sports Medicine
This student chapter of the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine is focused on individuals interested in entering the field of sports medicine as a career and for those interested in learning how to diagnose and treat injuries common to athletic participants.

This organization supports interactive educational programs which focus on internal medicine and associated sub-specialties.

The Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) is the national student organization of the American Osteopathic Association, which promotes the ideals and purposes of osteopathic medicine as a philosophy, a science, and an art.
SPMA - Student Pediatric Medical Association
The Student Pediatric Medical Association is the student chapter of the American College of Osteopathic Pediatricians and was established to provide an avenue for the advancement of knowledge and understanding of pediatric medicine.
