We're so glad you're here!
We are pleased to welcome you and congratulate you on your admission to the inaugural class of Rowan-Virtua SOM's PA Program! Orientation is designed to prepare you for a successful start to graduate medical school by introducing you to program expectations, academic resources, support services, and the professional standards that will guide your training. It also provides an opportunity to connect with faculty, staff, and classmates as you begin this important stage of your professional journey.
We've compiled a list of items below that will help you prepare for our required orientation, which begins August 31. We look forward to seeing you then!

Pre-Orientation Checklist
- Activate Rowan student accounts and verify access to email, portal, and learning platforms.
- Upload all required health documentation, immunization records, and screening results as instructed when you click here for the SOM Student Health Packet.

- Health Insurance: Rowan University has partnered with University Health Plans to administer the plan and help with waiver, enrollment, or benefit-related questions. University Health Plans can be reached at 833-251-1143 or info@univhealthplans.com. Visit this link for further information.
- General health, vaccinations, and wellness questions: ehsh@rowan.edu
- Instructions will be emailed to each student on how to complete background checks and any required compliance modules. Please check your official Rowan emails on a regular basis for updates.
- Submit final transcripts or admissions requirements, if outstanding.
- Review the PA Student Handbook posted on the website.
- Complete all other Rowan University trainings and requirements as prompted by your Rowan emails.
- Complete all of the required pre-orientation surveys that are available when you visit this site: PA Program Attestations Collection.
- Arrange housing and transportation, if applicable.
- Complete student ID requirements by visiting the webpage for the RowanCard
- Photo Submission Guidelines and Instructions are available when you follow this link.
- In addition to uploading your RowanCard photo for your RowanCard, please also upload your head shot to our shared drive. *You must be logged into your Rowan account to access the drive.
- Follow the highlighted link to review required textbook list.
- Recommended review and use of Rosh Review (Blueprint) Pre-PA Preparation Qbank to review Anatomy, Physiology, & Medical Terminology.
- Prior to 8/1/26, Blueprint will send you an activation email with clear, step-by-step instructions to help you set up your account. Please check your official Rowan email address, and check your spam folder. If you do not get these instructions by 8/2/26, please reach out to admissionsPA@rowan.edu.
- Important: Please ignore any automated ExamSoft/Examplify account emails that you may receive to your Rowan email address, as this will be completed on your Rowan-issued laptop during orientation.

Required Equipment Purchases
Please note that certain required educational equipment is not included in tuition and fees and must be purchased separately by all incoming students. Students are responsible for obtaining the required equipment from the vendors listed below by the specified deadlines.
Medical Equipment Package (The Medical Store)
Ordering Deadline: August 1, 2026
All students are required to purchase the designated medical equipment package. Instructions for ordering are available on this document.
Required items include:
- Littmann Cardiology IV Stethoscope*
- Blood Pressure Cuff
- Reflex Hammer
- 128 Hz Tuning Fork
- 512 Hz Tuning Fork
- Ophthalmoscope and Otoscope Set
- Pocket Snellen Chart with Red/Green Color Vision Test
Students who already own a comparable stethoscope may request approval to use their existing equipment. Requests must be submitted via email to Dr. Gerald Smith smithgf@rowan.edu for review and approval prior to the ordering deadline.
All other items listed above are mandatory and must be purchased as part of the package.
SurgiReal Suture Training Package
Ordering Window: August 12, 2026 – September 4, 2026 (11:59 PM MST)
Students are also required to purchase the Rowan-Virtua SOM PA Program SurgiReal Package, via the ordering instructions on this form which includes:
- Small 6-Layer Suture Training Kit
- Small Tensioning Base

Bring to Orientation
- Professional attire on Day 1 (8/31/2026). Casual dress the rest of the week.
- Government issued photo identification.
- Copies of any outstanding compliance documents, if instructed.
- Notebook or materials for note taking.

Orientation Week Schedule

Orientation ensures that all students begin the program with a clear understanding of expectations, resources, responsibilities, and requirements necessary for academic and professional success.
Yes. All scheduled orientation sessions designated as required must be attended. Absences may delay participation in program activities.

Students should bring a government issued photo ID, their cellular phone, and any requested documents listed in the pre-orientation checklist.
Access to learning platforms and required systems will be provided before or during orientation. Instructions will be communicated through official university email.

Incomplete requirements may limit access to certain systems or activities until documentation is submitted and approved.
