Introduction to Medical School
The Introduction to Medical School course is a three-week educational program especially designed to facilitate the academic, social, and environmental adjustment of incoming DO students at SOM. It addresses the needs of students who may benefit from an intensive introduction to the medical curriculum.
Through the Introduction to Medical School course for DO students, the Center for Student Success at Rowan-Virtua SOM will:
- Facilitate the academic, social and environmental adjustment of incoming, first-year SOM DO students through an introduction of the respective medical school curriculum, medical terminology and metacognitive skills.
- Cultivate a safe and nurturing environment for incoming first-year medical students to practice goal-setting and self-reflection skills, assess the effectiveness of their learning and study habits, improve organization and time management skills, and incorporate school-based resources.
- Establish inter-class connections among students to foster lasting mentoring relations with OMS-II role models, and build relationship with faculty, staff and peers through large and small group activities.

The Financial Aid team can explain a student's eligibility, guide them through the application process, and help them make the most of available financial aid resources.
