Financial Aid - Simplified

Applying for financial aid can seem like a daunting process, but if you follow these simple steps, you’ll be a pro in no time!

  1. Complete the required Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) online (use FAFSA code 002609)

  2. Visit studentaid.gov and log in using your FSA ID
    1. Click on the Complete Aid Process tab and
      1. Under Complete a Master Promissory Note, complete the Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan MPN
      2. Complete Entrance Counseling
  3. Submit Supplemental Financial Aid Forms (If requested - see below)
  4. Track your application through Banner Self-Service. You can log-in using your Rowan credentials.

In order to receive funds for the start of class and avoid possible late fees, the financial aid application process must be completed prior to the start of classes.

 

You can receive the additional funding through either a private educational loan, or through the Federal Direct Graduate PLUS loan.

How to Apply for the Direct Graduate PLUS Loan

  1. Sign into www.studentaid.gov
  2. Click on the Apply for Aid tab
  3. Click on Apply for a Grad PLUS Loan.  Select ROWAN UNIVERSITY under “School and Loan Information”.
  4. If you are not automatically directed to complete the Grad PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN), click on the Complete Aid Process tab and under Complete a Master Promissory Note, complete the Grad PLUS MPN.
  5. Click on your profile name and select “Documents”. Under “My Correspondence” select PLUS Correspondence. 
  6. Email the PLUS Correspondence letter to the Student Financial Aid Office at StratFinAid@rowan.edu.  State the amount you are requesting to borrow in your correspondence.
